The European Tour

July-August, 1973

The following is the introduction taken from "The European Tour" scrapbook
Intoduction...

The European tour of Jim Croce took exactly 23 days to get off the ground. They were 23 very full, hectic, and chaotic days. Days in which the schedule was changed almost by the hour.

Initially 16 countries were approached and seven days prior to the arrival of Jim and party,  appearances were being re-arranged, added or deleted.

In the end Jim, Maury, manager Elliot Abbott, and road manager Dennis Rast made a tremendously successful tour taking in a good cross section of Europe and its populous.
France, Switzerland, Ireland, England, and Holland were included.

Sadly the tour had to be cut short, but hopefully Belgium and Germany hope to see Jim sometime soon, as do the other countries who played host to him. And of course many others.

In the next few pages we have taken a cross section of items which made the
"Jim Croce European Tour of 1973" such a success.....

These are letters and telegrams that were sent to and from Elliot Abbott, Jim's manager while setting up Jim's one and only "European Tour"

Dear Elliot,

It appears That Jim Croce will have a third album with us this fall and we are most anxious to promote Jim and his records in Europe this fall. Could you please let me know whether there are any free dates in the months  September, October and/or November.

I am thinking of having Jim do guest performances on Television and if possible I will try to obtain some live concerts.

I am aware of the fact that Jim Croce prefers to perform in rather small halls so I will not offer him to stadiums.

We received the promotionfilm with the 2 titles and copies of this are already sent to New Zealand and Australia.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kindest regards,

In answer to your question about the Fall; I am unable to confirm any Fall months at this time, however there is a slight possibility of two weeks becoming available in November. I will not know about those weeks until September.
